MRI Scan
A high resolution scans of the pituitary gland can excluded pituitary tumors and other abnormalities that affect the pituitary gland, sella, and surrounding structures. The brain is not included.

Brain (head)
MRI Scan
An MRI scan of the brain (i.e. head) can detect the causes of headaches, seizures, weakness, hearing loss, mental status change, and blurred vision. The eyes (orbits), internal auditory canals (IACs), and pituitary gland are included in a brain MRI, but they can be much better demonstrated if you add specialized thin images of these structures to your brain MRI.

An MRI of the abdomen will detect masses, cysts, inflammation, hernias, and other abnormalities in the abdomen. It will also evaluate the organs including the gallbladder, biliary tree, liver, spleen, pancreas, adrenal glands, kidneys, and stomach.

An MRI of the pelvis will detect enlarged lymph nodes, hernias, inflammation, cysts, and tumors in the pelvic cavity and evaluate the size of the organs. Please note that we do not perform dedicated prostate MRI to exclude cancer as it requires some preparation before imaging and it is best with a 3T MRI scanner.

The MRI scan will also evaluate the articular surfaces or osteochondral defects, injuries, and arthritis and the ligaments that keep the ankle stable. Soft tissue injuries, inflammation, and masses can be visualized.

Dedicated MRI of the foot will show the bones, ligament, and tendons to determine the cause of foot pain. MRI of the foot can be centered in the back (hindfoot), the middle (midfoot), and the front to include the toes (forefoot). MRI of the foot can find infections, injuries, cysts, inflammation, and masses that may be causing symptoms.
