We also offer "Body Comp" (body fat analysis) and fast "Snapshots" as a powerful alternative to x-ray. Click to learn more.
Body Comp SnapshotA high-resolution scan of the pituitary gland can exclude pituitary tumors and other abnormalities that affect the pituitary gland, sella, and surrounding structures. The brain is not included.
Dedicated MRI of the eyes and surrounding structures for patients with eye pain and/or visual complaints. The brain is not included.
A high-resolution scan of the internal auditory canals (IACs) for hearing loss or ringing in the ears (tinnitus). The brain is not included.
An MRI scan of the brain (i.e. head) can detect the causes of headaches, seizures, weakness, hearing loss, mental status change, and blurred vision. The eyes (orbits), internal auditory canals (IACs), and pituitary gland are included in a brain MRI, but they can be much better demonstrated if you add specialized thin images of these structures to your brain MRI.
More informationA cervical spine (neck MRI) can detect a wide range of abnormalities, disc herniations, and injuries that may be causing neck, shoulder, arm, or hand pain.
More informationTo diagnose disc herniations, arthritis, and spinal cord abnormalities in patients with pain between shoulder blades (the mid back).
Commonly used to detect a herniated disk or narrowing of the spinal canal in patients with back and/or leg pain or lower extremity weakness.
More InformationScreening MRI of heart size, lungs, aorta, muscles, and chest wall. CT is recommended to evaluate the lungs for nodules, pneumonia, and other conditions.
An MRI of the abdomen will detect masses, cysts, inflammation, hernias, and other abnormalities in the abdomen. It will also evaluate the organs including the gallbladder, biliary tree, liver, spleen, pancreas, adrenal glands, kidneys, and stomach.
An MRI of the pelvis evaluates the uterus, ovaries, distal intestines, and bladder. We do NOT perform prostate MRI to exclude cancer.
MRI scans locate knee problems such as damage to the meniscus, ligaments, tendons, muscles, bones, and cartilage.
More informationAn MRI of the shoulder provides detailed images of structures within the shoulder joint, including bones, ligaments, muscles, and tendons of the rotator cuff.
More InformationScans of the wrist evaluate the bones, ligaments, tendons, triangular fibrocartilage, and synovium to determine the cause of wrist pain so your doctor can administer the appropriate treatment.
MRI of the hand, fingers, or thumb will evaluate the integrity of the tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bones which may be critical to ensuring the proper treatment.
An MRI of the elbow can evaluate for tears of the biceps, triceps, and other major tendons. The MRI will also show the ligaments, the articular surfaces, and the bones of the elbow joint.
Scans of the ankle joint show the Achilles tendon, plantar fascia, and flexor and extensor tendons surrounding the ankle. The MRI scan will also evaluate the articular surfaces or osteochondral defects, injuries, arthritis, and the ligaments that keep the ankle stable. Soft tissue injuries, inflammation, and masses can be visualized.
Dedicated MRI of the foot will show the bones, ligaments, and tendons to determine the cause of foot pain. MRI of the foot can be centered over the back/heel area (hindfoot), the mid area (midfoot), or over the front to include the metatarsals and toes (forefoot). MRI of the foot can find infections, injuries, cysts, inflammation, and masses that may be causing symptoms.
Evaluate the hamstring tendons and muscles for tendinopathy or muscle/tendon tear.
Scans of the hip show the bones and soft tissues to evaluate for arthritis, avascular necrosis (AVN), fractures, stress fractures, bone tumors, labral tears, bursitis, and muscle injuries.
Dedicated MRI of the sacrum and coccyx will show the bones of the posterior pelvis and SI joints to exclude a fracture, stress fracture, bone tumor, or sacroiliitis.
MRI of the implant only * NOT BREAST TISSUE * to rule out implant leak or rupture. We DO NOT perform breast MRI exams which require IV contrast and special protocols.
Scans of the tibia and fibula show bony and soft tissue abnormalities such as shin splints, stress fractures, muscle tears, tumors, and inflammation.
MRI of the femur or humerus to rule out bone tumors, inflammation, and soft tissue abnormalities around the bones.
Evaluate the soft tissue to exclude lymphadenopathy, tumors, inflammation, infection, and injuries.

Since their creation, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines have made a large impact on the way we diagnose certain diseases and study internal organs. MRI scanners use powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to create incredible images, with no dangerous ionizing radiation like CAT scans and X-rays.
Open MRI machines have top and bottom magnetic areas and do not enclose patients. The space between the two sides often alleviates any claustrophobia. Open MRI machines are used to accommodate claustrophobic, obese, and pediatric patients.
Available at our Braselton MRI center
Wide Bore MRI systems have a high magnet strength of 1.5 Tesla and produce high-quality imaging in a more comfortable, spacious environment. Wide Bore which is ideal for larger and claustrophobic patients.
Available at our Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Gainesville, Alliance, Plano, and Centennial MRI centers
Want to know sooner or require urgent results? Stat results are available in under 90 minutes for an additional $50.
We also provide a phone consultation service that allows you to discuss the findings of your MRI with an experienced radiologist for an additional $150.

MRI health screening examinations of the head, neck, chest, body, pelvis, spine, and arteries (MRAs) are also available to give you peace of mind. Along with annual physicals, colonoscopies, and mammograms, MRI screenings can help you locate and resolve problems early on.
Unlike CT and X-ray scans, MRI scans emit no radiation, so they are a safe and powerful screening tool to find problems before they become symptomatic. Early diagnosis may make the difference between curable and incurable diseases.
MRI screening exams can give you peace of mind and do not require a doctor's order.
